Your First Visit to Our Bibra Lake Practice

At your initial consultation, you will fill in a brief history form detailing the component of your health that you would like help and advice with. The front desk ladies will provide me with your file and we will get started. Once you are in the exam room, I will ask questions regarding activities you participate in, what movements aggravate the condition, what improves it, how you sleep, the hobbies you enjoy doing and if your health concern is affecting your time doing those hobbies, enjoying your children or grandchildren, or keeping you from doing what you want to.
My exam is designed to determine where the major problem is, how severe it is, what postures and imbalances are present in your body so that we can work to remove you from your current state of health and into a healthier lifestyle. I will be checking posture, ranges of motion, reflexes, neurologic tests, balance, and orthopedic tests as indicated to help determine what aspect of your spine is involved with the nerve irritation. I also perform two tests with the computer. One measures temperature along the spine and the other measures electrical activity in the muscles. Both of these procedures are safe for anybody. The equipment simply reads the information given by your body, it doesn't insert waves of energy like an x-ray or ultrasound.
To make the exam easier I do have shorts available for you to wear if you forget yours. Loose fitting clothing is easiest. If you are a female I will have you put a gown on for me so that we can accurately perform the computer tests. For the men, I simply ask you to remove your shirt.
The initial consultation will last for approximately 40 minutes from beginning to end. If you have questions regarding diet, exercise, weight loss, or other health issues for you or your family, you can ask them at this time. I will put some answers together for you and have the recommendations available to you at your follow up visit.
